ok...so remember how it was 98 & blazing in provo-all the storm clouds were off in the hills-you saw the pix. well we headed for the hills to lightening & a 73 second downpour that hurt the bear skin ...we had to pull over for second cuz we couldn't see! we were drenched - it felt so good for the 10 minutes it took us to dry out!

Signs I saw on the road today....
* Life has many choices, eternity has two, what are yours?
* Harmonica contest up ahead.

Thoughts of 'Day 1'
* Not bad at all-only hope it gets better (more like an endurance thing)!
* One thing I noticed is that you are very aware of smells while you are riding on a motorcycle...wheat fields, lavendar patches, raging rivers, the heat, a crop duster, diesel trucks.....but my most favorite smell was just before Boise....the cattle farms!! and the peculiar smell that comes with them. Call me weird, but I love that smell! It all started 28 years ago when we lived in Boise and I was pregnant with my one of my SONS (who will remain nameless). I craved the smell of cow manure! I would go the long way home from the grocery store just to drive by the cows! The night I started into labor, we went for a midnight walk...around the cow patch!
* Scott is not a fan of following ... he is more a 'leader' type! Mind you we are on "scenic byways" which in my dictionary (and they were) slow, windy two lane highways and I would find us flying around 2, 3 or even 4 vehicles at a time! I did look over his shoulder once to see that the speed-o-meter was well over 100 miles! When I budgeted for this trip I did not that into consideration SPEEDING TICKETS!
* Did I mention that when we rolled into Boise at 7pm it was 101 degrees! The weather was glorious all day long. We started peeling off layers by 11am and were down to t-shirts. You know how when you get a suntan with glasses on it is called racoon eyes, well what is it called when you have a motorcycle helmet/half windshield? Sunscreen for sure tomorrow, but it might already be too late!
* Wish we felt like driving around Boise tonight. I haven't been here since we left 27 years ago-after our oldest SON and Mandi were born here. Would love to see the house we use to live in etc.
* Well we walked to a pizza place a couple blocks away for dinner less than an hour ago and it was 'hot' and blue sky! .... on our walk back to the hotel ... it is black sky, thunder & 1 inch hail. Works for me, rain all you want at night!
WISH YOU WERE ALL HERE ENJOYING THE "ADVENTURE" WITH ME! Love & Kisses!

DAY 1 IN THE BOOKS....
Of what scott calls a vacation! ... I on the other hand will refer to this as an adventure for the rest of the trip (my idea of a vacation - is yes of course 'sitting' for 8-12 hrs a day, but on a louge chair at the beach) !!! I will post my thoughts of the day after a shower & good meal.

The gardeners saw me in the window at the kitchen sink wearing my helmet and left before they were finished pullilng weeds!

6 DAYS AND COUNTING...
Our dining room table has become a staging area for all of our gear that is going to fit into 2 dry bags....I am still trying to figure that part out-as we are both bring 3 pairs of shoes, 3 pairs of gloves, rain gear, 2 jeans, various t-shirts and sweatshirts. Not to mention many pairs of clean underwear. Another bag will have cell phones, cameras, movie camera, ear plugs, water bottles, sunglasses and of course ibuprofen!
